Cold Feet

A cinematic interior, composed and lit as a staged scene and then painted from my own photograph. Cold Feet comes out of an early body of work making film-still-like images — arranging the people, places and objects around me into an implied narrative through mise-en-scène.
The approach owes a debt to staged photographers like Gregory Crewdson — constructing and lighting a scene to take control of the story rather than find it. It's the start of a long interest in building the image before painting it.
