After painting, I spent years inside the digital image — modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and compositing for film VFX, animation and real-time simulation. I went after those skills for one reason: more control over my image-making. The scenes below are built the way the paintings are — staged, lit and composed — just in a different material.

The vintage model train — modelled by hand in Maya, sculpted in ZBrush, painted in Substance. An object that never existed, which you can still turn over in your hands — painted, or as raw clay geometry.
