Virtual Reality Simulator

I had the unique opportunity to contribute to a pioneering VR simulation project for the Irish Defence Forces.. This immersive, real-time VR environment is one of the first of its kind worldwide, specifically designed for armored crew training.

In my role as an Environment Artist, I focused on creating highly optimized hero assets, maintaining strict control over polygon counts, texture sizes, and draw calls to ensure the simulator’s seamless performance in real-time. This project emphasized efficiency and technical precision, as the simulator was engineered to support intensive training with reduced environmental impact and significant cost savings.

The project has been a game-changer for the Irish Defence Forces, enabling enhanced readiness and training flexibility, with an expected improvement in training knowledge retention by 80% and substantial cost savings on resources. It was rewarding to work on a project with such a tangible impact on defense training, blending cutting-edge technology with practical, real-world application.
