I consider myself an interdisciplinary artist working in a wide range of different mediums such as; ‘computer graphics’, ‘virtual reality’, ‘painting’ and ‘photography’. Originally, I began my art career as an oil painter but I now work primarily with CGI. As a traditional artist, my work was concerned with telling stories through staged cinematic scenes with ‘implied narrative’, ‘intertextuality’ and ‘semiotics’ being the key concepts used in the creation of the narrative scenes. I try to carry these concepts into my digital work. Other newly found themes that channel through my work are ‘Virtual Reality’, ‘Dystopian Worlds’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence’ of which I have a huge interest. I also have a keen interest in movies and having written my dissertation on ‘Remix Culture’, I like to use this framework to create art that conveys meaning on many different levels. My challenge now is to become proficient in numerous 3d software and adopt the mechanics of cinema to create art that is emotionally engaging and theatrical in nature.
